ONroute is a staple for Ontario travelers, operating a network of centres that provide fuel, food, and convenience services along highways 400 and 401. Behind the scenes, its finance team manages thousands of transactions every week across multiple business entities.
As ONroute expanded, manual financial processes and a rigid legacy system were slowing down operations, creating inefficiencies in accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and vendor payments. To support growth and efficiency, ONroute recognized that they needed a modern, scalable financial management solution, but more importantly, they needed the right partner to help them implement it successfully.
For years, ONroute relied on a legacy financial system that wasn’t keeping up with the demands of the business. The AP process was entirely manual, making tracking payments across multiple entities time-consuming. The finance team had to manage invoices through spreadsheets, which wasn’t sustainable for a growing business processing over 1,000 invoices per week.
ONroute also had a parallel banking transition underway, requiring seamless integration between its new financial system and its banking system for AP payments. There were also key efficiency gains the team wanted to protect, such as an automated remittance form function that was already saving them at least five hours per week.
Time was critical, as the new system needed to be fully implemented before November 2024, since any delays would mean renewing a higher-cost contract with their previous vendor.
With so much on the line, ONroute sought an implementation partner who understood both accounting and IT, could tailor the solutions to their specific needs, and collaborate closely with their internal teams.
ONroute chose Sage Intacct as its financial platform, but selecting the software was only the first step. The real challenge was making sure the transition was smooth, without disrupting operations, delaying payments, or adding unnecessary administrative burden on the teams.
That’s where MNP Digital came in. Recommended by Sage as the ideal implementation partner, MNP Digital brought deep expertise in accounting, IT systems, and business process optimization to the project. From day one, it was a true collaborative partnership, with MNP Digital working alongside ONroute’s finance team to tailor Sage Intacct to their specific needs and ensure their teams were fully prepared for the transition.
Key areas where MNP Digital added value included:
MNP Digital’s deep involvement didn’t stop at implementation. The ongoing support and expertise provided ONroute with the tools and confidence to navigate the transition without business disruptions.
With MNP Digital’s expertise guiding the transition, and ONroute’s constant team focus and forward-thinking, the project hit every key milestone on time. Even during peak business volume, the finance team continued to process over 1,000 invoices per week with zero disruptions.
Key wins:
Beyond process automation and efficiency gains, ONroute now has a scalable, future-ready financial system that will support business growth. This wasn’t just a system upgrade, but a business transformation. By working closely with MNP Digital, ONroute not only transitioned to a new financial platform, but they also redefined how they manage their finances and operations.
Through customized workflows, banking integrations, and hands-on support, MNP Digital worked hand-in-hand with ONroute to reduce manual work, improve financial visibility, and enable a more scalable future. Most importantly, the finance team can now focus on strategic growth instead of getting bogged down in inefficient processes.
ONroute’s seamless digital transformation is a testament to what happens when technology, expertise, and collaboration come together.
We’re always looking for new challenges and teammates.
